ARC: A Dawn of Onyx by Kate Golden.

First of all, thanks to Kate Golden for sending me a digital copy in exchange of an honest review! I really appreciate it, and if you read it, lol, I'm sorry I didn't reply your e-mail before!

I gotta admit that I'm always reluctant when it comes to books that are compared to ACOTAR or FBAA because I really dislike those series and I teared them apart, lol. But I decided to give it a try and it did not disappointed me as much as I thought it would do.

The premise is captivating!

"Captured by a king of darkness. Forced to find the light within.

Arwen Valondale never expected to be the brave one, offering her life to save her brother’s. Now she’s been taken prisoner by the most dangerous kingdom on the continent, and made to use her rare magical abilities to heal the soldiers of the vicious Onyx King.

Arwen knows better than to face the ancient, wicked woods that surround the castle on her own, which means working with a fellow prisoner might be her only path to freedom. Unfortunately, he’s as infuriating as he is cunning—and seems to take twisted pleasure in playing on Arwen’s deepest fears.

But here in Onyx Kingdom, trust is a luxury she can’t afford.

To make it out of enemy territory, she'll have to navigate back-stabbing royals, dark magic, and dangerous beasts. But untold power lies inside Arwen, dormant and waiting for a spark. If she can harness it, she just might be able to escape with her life—and hopefully, her heart."

I was in.

The writing style is really pretty, I liked the worldbuilding and how fast paced was the book. The descriptions of places and creatures were beautiful and I was totally in love. Dear Kate, please allow me to live in Onyx or Peridot, I need to go there asap!

The characters were okay. They weren't bad though. I did have some issues with some of them (like Bert, Halden and Lazarus, cofcof, those bastards), even with Arwen y Kane.

I did however wanted to kick Arwen and Kane a couple of times, for their actions and decisions, but I was intrigued for their chemistry, and some tension, yas!

Some plots were predictable and I saw them coming. However, that doesn't mean that they were bad. To the contrary, I wanted to know more!

I'll be waiting for book two because I need some damn answers and blood!
